Project Information

Ten huge pillars of LED, each with wrap around ‘fingers’, created a unified display showcasing Expo 2020’s vision to the millions of visitors passing through the terminal. Three Disguise media servers and ten 4k LED processors were housed in a remote control room, connected to the structures via 9 km of fibre optic cable. The pillar bases then contained LED fibre receivers, network switches and Dante amplifiers to power the spatial audio around the four halo shaped screens.

Our client Pixel Artworks, created three chapters of content – 9 minutes in total – taking the audience from ‘sand to the stars’ on a journey that played out across the pillars before bursting into life to present Expo 2020’s key campaign imagery and ‘World’s Greatest Show’ message.

Originally intended as a temporary installation, it became so popular that it remains in place to this day!
